I picked up The Romulan Prize from a free books box yesterday. It involves the planet Hermeticus 2, and a secret that could shake the foundations of the Federation.
I bet the secret is time travel.
It has a prologue where counselor Troi is woken from a dream by the force of someone's will. She goes looking for the only person who could do this, and for half a page, I was all "Hmm, Worf or Riker?" But it is Picard. So she has a chat with Picard in his shorty pajamas that is so 1990s, I feel like I'm watching an episode of Friends. He refuses to talk about his dream. He's so stoic and reclusive.
Chapter 1 features Romulan who don't need to talk to each other, because everything is obvious, but who must explain everything to themselves at length in massive expository internal monologues. Yay! Someone got his Romulan PhD equivalent inMuggle Human Studies! Also, there is a big ship, and a young engineer. Can't wait for the wacky hijinks!
